Here is a short story from three days of hunting in the most beautiful territory in Ireland 🇨🇮
The first morning already offered great experiences, here I made contact with three sika deer. As the wind unfortunately keeps changing in the mountains, we couldn’t get close to them.
Again in the evening I saw sika, it was only a young stag – it was allowed to move on. The next day there was again deer in sight, a really nice 8-pointer. Here, however, I could only see the head, and before I knew it, it backed into the forest and was unfortunately gone, here you really understood why the sika is called “the ghost of the forest”.
In the evening Diana was with me, a deer had gone into some bushes in front of us. It had been quiet for a while, after which the deer suddenly came forward and walked purposefully towards me. The stalker had tried with calls and throwing sticks and in the end the deer was within 40 meters – a very special experience and I got my first sika. An experience I will not soon forget.
The last day I had to go up into the mountains, again we saw a lot of sika, both stags and females. With a lot of fresh tracks, the stalker had no doubt that we would probably get close to a stag again.
In the evening it went uphill again, on the trail of a stag, but it caught wind of us and disappeared. It became twilight and we went down the mountain, where we got another stag in sight and the trip had to go up the mountain again so that we could get above it. Up again I just needed to catch my breath and get my breathing down. I got the deer in the binoculars and it got a good shot.
Two really nice 6-point sika stags and a nature experience richer.
Many thanks to B and H Jagtrejser for a good hunting experience! ☺️
